The iKey 2000
supports and integrates with enterprise, business-to-business, and business-to-consumer
applications built on all major PKI systems. This includes Microsoft
(Internet Explorer and Outlook), Netscape, Entrust, Baltimore, Xcert,
Verisign, CyberTrust, Checkpoint, Aventail, KyperPASS, and others. The
second member in a family of highly-secure token devices pioneered by
Rainbow, the iKey 2000 was designed to protect your public key infrastructure
(PKI) digital identity. The iKey 2000 can generate and store public
key pairs in hardware, store digital certificates in hardware, and perform
digital signatures in hardware. The iKey 2000 is a true PKI hardware
token. It never exposes your PKI private key to the client computer.
The iKey 2000
delivers powerful public-key infrastructure (PKI) security and data
encryption directly inside the token, providing an optimal secure
user authentication solution. iKey 2000 provides end-user software for
complete "plug-and-play" security capabilities for most major PKI environments.
iKey 2000 includes a full selection of cryptographic libraries for Netscape
and Internet Explorer browser applications, as well as Microsoft Outlook,
Outlook Express, and Netscape Communicator e-mail clients. The iKey
2000 plugs into any standard USB port making it a smart card and reader
encompassed in a USB form factor.
End users and
help desk managers everywhere are fed up with passwords. It is widely
reported that users simply cannot remember more passwords, let alone
use good practices in selecting, storing and changing them. For these
reasons, passwords no longer achieve security objectives. The iKey can
replace any password, solving both problems. People are less likely
to lose a key than forget a password. Some people have turned to password
generators to solve the password problem. iKeys provide greater security
than traditional password generators, are more portable, less expensive,
and require no batteries. Most importantly, an iKey is simply inserted
into a USB port to activate an application program; no complex codes
need be read or entered. Further, one iKey can be used for several applications.
The iKey provides a simpler way to administer user privileges than passwords
or software-only certificates. It takes only seconds for an administrator
to program a key, requiring no end-user action. Lost keys can be deactivated
and replaced.
